Thelma in Chapel

St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to every Catholic student from the Diocese of Dallas who qualifies to attend St. Gregory’s and has the recommendation from his or her pastor or Catholic high school counselor. These scholarships would be awarded on top of any academic, activity, or need-based scholarship awards which the student would otherwise qualify.  If you are interested please contact the Admissions office at St. Gregory’s University.

PepsiCo Foundation Diamond Scholars Program
The PepsiCo Foundation has established the Diamond Scholars Program to provide an opportunity for urban youth who have the potential and desire to succeed in post-secondary education but who may have been overlooked for scholarships.  The Foundation is providing scholarships to address the needs of today's youth and to increase graduation rates in America's urban cities.  The scholarship program is available in five key urban cities: Detroit, Dallas, Hayward/San Jose, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Decision 2008 Essay Contest

The Decision 2008 Essay Contest is available to students who have resided in the United States for at least one year. You must be at least 16 years of age prior to the deadline to qualify. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 1500 words answering questions regarding the 2008 Presidential Election. BigSun Scholarship

The Hill Motor Corporation Power of Community Scholarship is available to African-American high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. You must write an essay of at least 500 words addressing the following points: Why is it important for Black Americans to re-build a sense of community that transcends socio-economic boundaries? What can be done to connect the fragmentations we have allowed to divide our race? What are some of the characteristics of a growing and thriving community? How can on-line social networking platforms such as HBCU Connect, Facebook and MySpace best serve to aid in establishing the community that closely mimics the natural communities to which we were accustomed to growing up? Non Resident Achievement Scholarship
The following scholarships require the student to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 unweighted
Any student that has the following scores on SAT (math and verbal sections only) or ACT is guaranteed the following award amounts:
1320 SAT/30 ACT - $7,000 per year
1210 – 1310 SAT/27-29 ACT - $6,000 per year
1090-1200 SAT/24-26 ACT - $5,000 per year

Tall Clubs International Scholarship

The Tall Clubs International Scholarship is available to students who have been submitted as a candidate by a TCI member club. You must live in an area which has a TCI member club. HBCU "African-American and Hispanic Unity" Essay Contest

Graduating seniors must write an essay that is between 500 and 2,500 words explaining your thoughts and solutions to the following points:

  1. Why should African Americans and Hispanics in the United States work together   as minorities to address political, cultural, communication, and community issues?
  2. What can be done to strengthen the relationship between the African American and Hispanic communities living within the United States?
  3. How and why should Historically Black College & Universities continue to support the needs of African American Students and possibly the needs of the growing Hispanic (and Afro-Hispanic) population in the United States?

The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards

The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards run annually from January through July and honor young Latino leaders with grants for their college education. Applications are open to graduating high school seniors who maintain an un-weighted 3.0 GPA. Award categories include Business, Education (future teachers), Engineering and Mathematics, Journalism, Leadership and Sports. For specific questions, please consult our FAQs.

The LeCroy Scholars Program
Amount of Award: Up to $2,400
Deadline: first Friday in April
Eligibility Criteria: Leadership - A strong leadership record must be
demonstrated by involvement in academic, church, and/or community
based activities; assumption of leadership in clubs, athletics,
extracurricular activities;
Scholarship - A strong academic record demonstrated by a 3.0 grade
point (on a 4.0 scale) or B average, typically underscored by
activities such as honors society involvement, academic club
memberships or the selection of academically rigorous course work;
A high school diploma.
Student must apply to and attend any Dallas County Community College

EMMETT J. DOERR MEMORIAL DISTINGUISHED SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP
The National Catholic Committee on Scouting® has established the Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout Scholarship to be awarded to five outstanding Catholic high school seniors who are Scouts in a BSA program and continuing their education in college. The requirements are listed in the Eligibility Requirements section on this page. Applications are due to the NCCS office by April 1 of each year.
Award Amount:
Five separate awards of $2000 each.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A. Be a practicing Catholic.
  2. Be a full time High-School Senior.
  3. Be a registered young man or woman actively involved with a Scout Troop, Varsity Scout Team or Venturing Crew.
  4. Held or is currently holding a leadership role in his or her unit.
  5. Earned the Ad Altare Dei or Pope Pius XII Religious Award.
  6. Earned the Eagle Scout or Silver Award.
  7. Provided service to his or her home parish (Altar Server, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, staffing youth retreats, etc.)
  8. Held or is currently holding a leadership role in a school or community organization other than scouting.
  9. Submit an application with four (4) letters of recommendations. One letter each must come from a religious institution, Scouting Unit, School and Community.
  10. Submit official high school transcript.
  11. Submit an acceptance letter from an accredited institution of higher learning, if selected as a Scholarship recipient.
  12. Provide a 3 X 5 picture with application
